This wine showcases layers of mocha, ripe plums and black cherry, complimented by silky soft tannins. Unique distinct South

African cultivar is the best expressed in this easily accessible juicy black fruit style, with chocolate coffee and ripe aromas. Our

moderate Western Cape climate along with the different soil types, leads to unique grapes everywhere in the Cape Vinelands,

which we guide into even more unique wines.

Vineyard Facts

The grapes grow on high potential Hutton and Shale soils, which due to the cooler soil temperature ripened slower than normal.

These conditions set a perfect macro-climate scenario, where the Pinotage bunches ripened, hanging longer than normal

to create soft juicy ripe fruit tannins. The reason for this is because the bunches are exposed to direct sunlight twice a day.

Winemaking

Early in the morning only the healthiest grapes were destemmed and cooled down. This enables us to reach optimum colour

extraction before fermentation. During fermentation ripe complex layers of typical Pinotage fruit were extracted from the skins,

heavy toasted French oak were used for creating this aromatic ripe plumy enriched sweet roasted toffee/coffee style. After

fermentation the Pinotage wine stayed for a longer period of 6 months on 100% new oak for a well-integrated ripe fruit/oak

balance
