FLEXI MULTIRADIO BASE STATION TD-LTE MODE
WHAT IS IT?
Flexi Multiradio BTS with TD-LTE SW is the 3GPP TD-LTE eNB macro BTS site
solution.
From BTS hardware (HW) and site installation point of view, Flexi
Multiradio BTS introduces a new flexible and revolutionary way to build BTS
sites using modules directly, without a specific BTS cabinet.
Flexi Multiradio BTS provides maximized flexibility, reliability and
most cost optimization with RF Modules (RFM) and/or Remote Radio Head (RRH).
Fewer sites are needed to provide high speed broadband data services over
TD-LTE to indoor locations using outdoor BTS sites.
The TD-LTE RF frequency band is selected by using the desired
RFM/RRH HW variant. The operating frequency is SW-selectable within the
frequency band.
Flexi Multiradio BTS modules can be used very flexibly with
different BTS configurations, AC/DC and battery backup modules, and the
operator’s own site equipment, for an integrated site solution.
Baseline of Flexi Multiradio BTS is 3GPP TD BTS is compliant with
the 3GPP TD and X2 network interfaces according to the latest Nokia Statement
of Compliance.
WHY DO OYU NEED TO BUY IT?
Fast site acquisition:
The Flexi Multiradio BTS is designed for easier installation,
commissioning and maintenance. Thanks to the modular solution design, the
footprint, space, weight and power feeding system of the site can be optimized.
This ensures that the site blends easily into an urban environment and the
visual impact to the general public is minimal. Acceptance of a new site is
easier, and the acquisition time and cost can be minimized.
LOWEST TOTAL BTS SITE POWER CONSUMPTION:
Flexi Multiradio BTS reduces BTS site power consumption
dramatically. The electricity saving in typical configurations is up to 60%
compared to a first generation of WCDMA BTS. This saving is due to the high
integration level of the Flexi Multiradio BTS, and to the new technology power
amplifiers.
Moreover, this reduced BTS electricity consumption converts to the
requirement of less battery capacity for the same backup time and less weight
for the site, or to more battery backup time using the existing batteries of
the site.
MINIMIZED SITE RENTAL COSTS:
Flexi Multiradio BTS reduces BTS site rental costs by eliminating
the need for a BTS specific cabinet. This means that floor space or cabinet is
not necessarily required. The existing site support and auxiliary cabinets can
be used to house the Flexi Multiradio BTS modules, or the modules can be
installed on a wall.
LESS SPARE PARTS AND INVENTORY:
The Flexi Multiradio BTS System Module includes baseband processing
and an alternative transmission sub-module. The same Multiradio modules are
used in WCDMA/HSPA, LTE FDD and TD-LTE indoor and outdoor sites. Thus the
logistics costs and spare part stock are minimized.
LOWER NETWORK MANAGEMENT COSTS:
Nokia Solutions and Networks provides an industry-unique NetAct™ Network
Management System platform that fully integrates to the GSM, WCDMA, and
transmission networks as well as to the LTE networks. One graphical user
interface covers the entire network. Personnel trained to operate NetAct™ for
GSM and WCDMA can operate also TD-LTE. Operators who already have the NetAct™
NMS system can include TD-LTE in the same NMS and thus fully capitalize on
their investment in the state-of-the-art NMS.
The status of the BTS site power and backup system can be monitored
through the NetAct™ NMS System. When the entire BTS site status is known at the
remote NetAct™ centre, maintenance visits can be planned in advance, taking
into account all site equipment including the BTS, antenna line equipment and
all other Site Support equipment.

LOWEST POWER SYSTEM COST OF THE SITE:

LOWER INSTALLATION COSTS:
Flexi Multiradio BTS reduces total site installation costs since no
cabinet is needed at BTS site. A single person can carry the modules and
install them on the floor or on the wall. No truck is needed to transport the
cabinet to the site and no crane to lift the cabinet onto the roof. The weight
of the Flexi Multiradio BTS is dramatically low: in a typical 1+1+1
configuration, the entire BTS weight is less than 54kg (e.g. one flexi
multiradio 10 base station and one 6 pipe RFM). This makes it easier to find,
acquire and build a site, especially on a rooftop or even at the top of a
tower.
OPTIMIZED ANTENNA LINE:
The RF modules can be installed very close to the antenna and be
connected to the antenna with a short jumper cable. This reduces the
installation costs and CAPEX by eliminating the need for separate Bias-Ts, long
feeder cables, and lightning protection units at a site. This minimizes the
length of the antenna line and the number of connectors, thereby optimizing the
RF performance of the BTS site. From RL35TD, Flexi Multiradio BTS has
integrated Antenna line supervision in Radio Module to control antenna line
condition by Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) measurement. In case of 2TX
MIMO both TX/RX antenna lines can be supervised. Separate VSWR alarm is
reported from both active TX/RX antenna lines.
