Tasting notes

Rich and complex with a flinty, fresh finish. Aromas of quince, white peach, tangy nectarines and fresh straw. Prominent melon

and lightly toasted almonds on the palate with well-balanced acidity and a full, round mouth-feel.

Vineyard Facts

This block of Chenin Blanc is 1.9 hectares in size and located 200m above sea level, being just over 15 km from False Bay.

The cooling sea breeze ensures a longer ripening period to give a good developed flavour profile. The 25 year old vines

developed a complex root system, capable of extracting nutrients from the decomposed granite soils. The yields are relatively

low, the berry size quite small and bunches fairly loose, causing good concentration and intensity of flavour.

Winemaking

Different batches of grapes are harvested by hand in mid-February, between 22 and 24° Balling. After destemming and

pressing, only the purest, free run juice is left for settling. Half of the juice is fermented in barrels and the other half in stainless

steel tanks. Fermentation barrels are batonnaged once a week, while the juice from the tanks brings freshness to the wine, the

juice from the barrels adds creaminess, complexity and depth
